Family Photography in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs — A Golden Hour Session With Preeti & Her Beautiful Family

Spring is always a magical time for family photography, and this session with Preeti, her husband Nikhil, and their gorgeous children Aarnyk and Aroha was the perfect example of why I love photographing families in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. We chose a charming cottage garden for their session—a hidden gem filled with roses, iris blooms, winding pathways, and pockets of soft, golden light. It was the ideal backdrop for a relaxed and joy-filled family shoot.

As soon as we arrived, the children were completely enchanted. Aarnyk wandered through the archways of roses, curious and full of energy, while little Aroha was fascinated by the vibrant colours of the iris flowers. Their laughter and excitement brought the whole space to life, and the garden became their own little world to explore. Golden hour wrapped everything in a warm, dreamy glow, giving us the perfect atmosphere for both candid moments and beautiful portraits of the family together.

Preeti and Nikhil were looking for photos that felt natural, warm, and true to who they are as a family—and this location allowed exactly that. The mix of greenery, florals, and soft evening light gave every image a timeless feel. Whether capturing the family walking hand in hand through the garden paths, or the kids crouched down to inspect petals and leaves, each moment felt authentic and full of connection.
